Tideswell Community Orchard
The Wildflower Meadow - from "Sowing to Blooming"
We'd like to express special thanks to the Tideswell & District Community Association (TDCA) for their help and support in making this wildflower area possible.
The Cornfield Meadow was first 'ploughed' and sown in April 2018
We planted ...
-
red Flanders poppies
-
purple corncockle
-
blue cornflowers
-
yellow corn marigolds
-
white corn chamomile
-
white oxeye dasies
& spring barley
We supported the native wildflowers:
field buttercups, scabious, lady's bedstraw, red clover, purple vetch, pignut and many more
- As the flowers thrived we were visited my many insects
-
bees, ladybirds, hoverflies,
-
many interesting beetles
-
and lots of butterflies, including peacock, brown meadow, ringlet and skipper butterflies.
& please tell us if you see anymore - we would love to see your pictures on our facebook page too.
